As some knew via social media, I took a quick trip to North Bay on Thursday August 25th for a special meeting on Friday August 26th with Don Davies, owner of Heritage Art Editions of Lasalle Ontario. What you see here is the subject of this meeting. This is a limited edition signed and numbered 25 x 15 Giclee print of a recently completed acrylic painting created by famous railway artist Larry Fisher entitled "Winter in North Bay".

I and a few others were honored to be selected as some of the consultants behind the historical accuracy of this scene that was beautifully depicted by Larry. The finished product exhibits how North Bay Shops would look in the winter of 1979. Highlights of that year were the bright yellow and blue replacing the classic green and yellow of Ontario Northland's locomotives, the Northlander TEE train was still seen as revolutionary in passenger rail travel, and the GP38-2 & SD40-2 were considered the big muscle of the fleet in those days.

I can't stress enough how beautiful this print is. "Winter in North Bay" is a definite must for anyone who cherishes the rich history of Ontario Northland. For a better look at the print and if you wish to purchase one, visit the "Winter in North Bay" section of the Heritage Art Editions website HERE.

It was a pleasure meeting you Don, and congratulations to both yourself and Larry Fisher on a job well done.
